Alma de Cuba, Seel Street, Liverpool
Alma de Cuba is set in the converted St Peters Catholic Church which still incorporates many features from the original design, such as stained-glass windows, marble altar and religious paintings. However it also has a C
aribbean theme with Salsa dancers keeping the crowds entertained until the early hours.
In the evening hundreds of candles light up the rooms, and if you are lucky enough to be there at 11pm (only on weekends) you will be dazzled as thousands of rose petals fall from the ceiling onto the crowds gathered below. Alma de Cuba has a long bar area which stretches the full length of the ground floor serving up wines, beers and spirits (not the spooky kind). If they don’t take your fancy why not indulge yourself in one of the elegantly crafted cocktails.
It doesn’t end there, Alma de Cuba also has a fabulous restaurant situated above the main party area. I found it quiet enough to enjoy a conversation over your meal without feeling like you’re shut off from the action taking place downstairs. Restaurant prices are reasonable at Alma de Cuba. I opted for grilled asparagus for starters followed by premium 8oz fillet steak. The food was served quickly and professionally; portions were a little small but didn’t leave me feeling hungry afterwards.
Alma de Cuba is a very pleasant and enjoyable place to eat, drink and party into the night. Appealing to all ages and definitely one for the celeb spotters.
