Deep in the heart of Nuremberg, Germany, a new and revolutionary restaurant has opened to the public. Michael Mack a local businessman in the area dealing in iron has ventured in to the food and drink business by opening Baggers restaurant in the popular holiday resort.
“I wanted to come up with a complete new restaurant system, one that would be more efficient and more comfortable,” Mack says.
The idea is that a customer can sit comfortably and order a meal on the state of the art touch screen computer system, meals are then cooked upstairs, labeled appropriately, and filtered through a series of twisting steel rails in small pots on wheels to the tables below.
Customers are even allowed to use the computers to check for and send emails while they wait for their food to be whizzed down to them.
Could this mean the end of waiter service?
Labour costs haven’t been cut out completely at Baggers restaurant; the food is all cooked from fresh upstairs by the restaurant chefs. Staff have also been hired to help muddled customers master the ordering systems, and give guidance on how the restaurant operates.
Customer reaction at the restaurant has been a positive one, many liking the idea of touch screen ordering and the prompt service provided. However some feel the idea will prove to be more of a success with the younger generation.
