Have a break, have a mini break
Filed Under News and Tips, Travel Journal
Despite the call for Britons to reduce carbon emissions it seems that more and more of us are taking to the skies on long haul mini breaks.
A long haul mini break is classed as a flight lasting at least 7 hours for a holiday lasting under 1 week.
The United States is the most popular destination after research undertaken by Halifax travel insurance reports that;
- 4.9 million speed tourists have long haul mini breaks scheduled for 2008
- 35% increase in demand for long haul mini breaks in just 12 months
- North America most popular destination for short breaks that require a long haul flight
- Inhabitants of the South East most likely to take a long haul mini break
One of the main reasons for this surge is the high levels of entertainment, comfort and free drinks on board long haul flights. Combined with the strength of the pound against the dollar. However, travelers should not forget about the essentials when planning a short trip. Many holidaymakers feel the need for travel insurance isn’t important, but things are just as likely to go wrong.
