Budget Airline OasisHongKong has brought in liquidators to deal with the spiraling debts of up to £64million caused by rising fuel prices. Oasis admitted having problems at the beginning of April 2008 and finally stopped flights on 9th, leaving hundreds of tourists stranded in Hong Kong.

Two rival airlines Cathay Pacific and British Airways have now offered their support to customers caught up in the situation by cutting prices on one-way tickets home from the popular tourist destination until 23rd April.

Hundreds more OasisHongKong passengers have now been left with useless tickets, as the website continued to sell deals until the end of March, despite it being highly unlikely the company would be able to fulfill orders. oasishongkongOasis aren’t the only small airline to close up shop in recent weeks, three other companies based in Hawaii, Indianapolis and Ohio have also succumbed to the rising cost of fuel and intense competition.
