Paris is the capital city of France, situated on the River Seine it’s home to many of the worlds most prestigious landmarks. A great city to spend a long weekend in, make sure to budget your money as Paris can be very expensive especially if you intend to eat out each night. I stayed in 17th district, which provides quick access to such sights as Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee. If your a celebrity spotter then be sure to keep an eye out along here as many of Hollywood’s A listers take time out of their busy schedules to peruse the shops and restaurants which line up along this elegant street.
This romantic city draws lovers from all over the globe to see the iconic sights and sample the local cuisine. If you are prepared to do a bit of walking the best way to move around the city is by foot, that way you are guaranteed to see as much as Paris as you can.
To take a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower will cost £8 per adult, cheaper tickets are available which take you up to the first or second floors. From the top of the Eiffel Tower the panoramic views will take your breath away.
A short walk over the River Seine will lead you back to the famous Louvre Museum in 1st district. Entrance to the museum costs approx £6 for a day pass, however make sure this pass covers every exhibition you want to see as many of the smaller exhibitions cost extra. Try not to make the same mistake I did and walk straight past the Mona Lisa (Twice). I’ll give you a hint it’s the one with the huge crowd around it, I think I had my eyes closed.
After an afternoon strolling through the Louvre head over to the cathedral of Notre Damn, take some time to sit in the square and watch people enter and leave through the huge front doors this way you will really get an idea of how big Notre Damn is. Entrance is free but donations can be given inside. Be careful with your money as peddlers and gypsies swarm this location selling snacks and souvenirs to tourists.
Paris is a city that lives up to all expectations; its beauty and romantic sights make you want to return year after year. As a major capital city in Europe you can expect to pay high prices, but if you are prepared to shop around you will find reasonably priced restaurants and bars to eat and drink in.
